Fall Break 2026

For one powerful week, Kamalei step into African American dance and storytelling guided by the world renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, all in a safe and supportive space grounded in care and belonging.

Kamalei ages 12 to 24 explore movement as a way to express identity, culture, and strength through guided instruction that builds foundational technique, confidence, and connection. Each day brings shared practice, creative exploration, and time to move together in a consistent environment with caring adults and trusted mentors.

You will dance, tell your story through movement, meet new people, and find your people while learning in community. No experience needed, just curiosity and energy.

This is more than a dance intensive. It is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and voice rooted in the legacy of Alvin Ailey and the power of collective movement.

This one-week Makahiki experience brings ʻōpio into a safe and supportive space where culture comes alive through movement, story, and connection.

Guided by cultural practitioners Hanohano Naehu, Maile Naehu, and Kaina Makua, every day is grounded in ʻike, care, and real practice.
Kamalei dive into traditional games like pāʻuma, uma, kōnane, and ʻulu maika. These are not just games. They build strength, strategy, teamwork, and focus while connecting each moment to history and ʻike kūpuna.

You will move, compete, work as a team, and meet new people while learning Makahiki protocol, hoʻokupu, and the meaning behind this season of peace and celebration. You can try something new and find your people in a consistent environment with caring adults and trusted mentors.

Kamalei grow confidence, leadership, and cultural pride while connecting to community and place through hands-on learning that feels real and alive.

This hands on weaving space invites Kamalei to slow down, learn deeply, and create together in a safe and supportive environment guided by caring adults and community cultural practitioners.

Kamalei explore the traditions, stories, and meaning behind lau hala weaving while building foundational skills through shared practice in a consistent environment rooted in respect and care.

You will weave side by side, learn from practitioners, meet new people, and contribute to something bigger than yourself.

Together, Kamalei create a beautiful community mat for our Hale, strengthening identity, cultural pride, and a sense of belonging while carrying Hawaiian heritage forward.
