Hawai’i Food Systems

Class info:

This program brings Kamalei into Hawaiʻi’s food systems through hands on, place based learning rooted in culture, sustainability, and community. Learning happens on the land, in the kitchen, and alongside others who care.
Building on the Hawaiʻi Food Systems Summer Intensive, Kamalei continue exploring aquaponics, composting, gardening, agroforestry, and local food systems through weekly Friday sessions and monthly Saturday huakaʻi. Activities include hands on projects, culinary learning, technology integration, and cultural practices grounded in the Lōkahi Triangle and Kūkulu Kumuhana.
You will get your hands dirty, work as a team, learn from ʻāina, and meet new people in a safe and supportive space guided by caring adults and trusted mentors.
Kamalei build practical skills, cultural connection, and kuleana for the environment while strengthening relationships with community in a consistent and welcoming environment.
